11. You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do? I want to say that I would speak up and defend her, and I honestly do think I would. But I also have a rotten habit of thinking of the right thing to say about six hours after it’s useful, so in all honesty, it’s possible that I might totally bungle it.
12. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be? Sleep, kid. Sleep through the night.
13. Would you break the law to save a loved one? In a second.
14. Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity? I’ve seen what I thought were stupid ideas that went on to be very successful – so I guess by the commercial definitions of insanity and creativity, yes.
15. What’s something you know you do differently than most people? Make peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches.
16. How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy? Because everyone else is WRONG, obvs.
Also because then the world would be so predictable that we’d just sit around and stare at each other all day. It’d get very boring.
17. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? What’s holding you back? One? Are you kidding?
For most all of them, what’s holding me back is not having yet put enough money and time into them.
18. Are you holding onto something you need to let go of? I try not to. But yes. A bunch of pounds. Some shoes. A bit of childhood guilt.
19. If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why? I don’t want to move at present, but if I did, there are a bunch of places I’d be interested in – some because I’ve been there and loved it, some because I’ve always wanted to. The main ones that spring to mind are Colorado, New England, Northern California and the UK.
20. Do you push the elevator button more than once? Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster? No. Because no.
